11th Hour Racing to debut group runs ending with happy hour

Happy hour proceeds benefit Philly area cancer patients

Organizations 11th Hour Racing and Second Street Irish Society have teamed up for monthly fitness events starting June 1. Group runs will take place on the first Wednesday of the month, beginning and ending at the Irish Society.

The runs start at 7 p.m., the time when happy hour usually ends, but participants don't have to worry about missing out. At the end of the run, purchase a $5 wristband to get happy hour specials inside the Irish Society. All proceeds from post-workout drinking benefit Philly-area cancer patients.

11th Hour Racing was formed in 2013 to raise money for patients and their families when they could no longer pay their medical bills. The idea was to gather a group of medical professionals and athletes together to raise money through fitness events and races.

Participants in the group run series can choose to run 1-5 miles before joining happy hour. Different routes have been mapped out.
