Update: The 20th anniversary Home & Garden Festival in Chestnut Hill will be postponed until Sunday, May 15 due to inclement weather. The same vendors and entertainment are scheduled for the new date. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, May 1, the stretch of Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill between Rex and Willow Grove avenues will be turned into an outdoor marketplace. The annual Home & Garden Festival will celebrate its 20 year anniversary in 2016.

At the festival, there will be more than 150 home and garden vendors set up selling artisan goods, crafts, flowers, hand-made furniture, jewelry and other goods. Some vendors will include demonstrations on skills like candle-making.

Secret, themed gardens will also be set up throughout the avenue. There will be a wedding garden, a courtyard garden, a sustainability garden and even a Harry Potter garden, complete with visits from Harry Potter and Dumbledore.

Character appearances aren't the only activity for kids, however, there will be a basketball clinic, face painting, photo booth, maypole dance, arts & crafts and a petting zoo.

Entertainment for the whole family will be provided by City Rhythm Orchestra, The Classic Rockers, The Dukes of Destiny and Midnight Shift.

As for food, there will be festival fare that includes kettle corn, funnel cakes, cotton candy, ice cream, fruit smoothies, baked treats and soft pretzels. Restaurants along the avenue will also be open, as well as the boutiques and shops.

The all-day festival is free and will begin at 11 a.m.
