Officials in Ocean County announced Thursday that a murder-suicide investigation is underway after a Jackson Township man and a Lakewood woman were discovered dead in separate locations during the early morning hours.
According to authorities, Holmdel police found 32-year-old Tyree Johnson hanging from a Comcast truck in the parking lot at 22 South Holmdel Road. Investigators subsequently responded to 2506 Lexington Court, an address in Jackson Township identified as Johnson's possible residence.
Once inside, after initiating the notice of death to Johnson's family, police detected a strong odor coming from within the residence. The body of a female, later identified as 29-year-old Christy Keronen, was discovered deceased on the kitchen floor with apparent head trauma.
Officials reached out to Keronen's brother, C.J., with whom she shared a residence in Lakewood, to notify him of his sister's death. Earlier in the day, investigators learned, C.J. Keronen had reported his sister missing to the Lakewood Police Department.
Keronen shared his grief in a message on Facebook and announced that funeral arrangements will be forthcoming.
The circumstances of the apparent murder-suicide remain under investigation.
