"I know whoever did this did it out of ignorance," the Falls Township Police Department posted on Facebook.

The Falls Township Police Department sent out a request to the anonymous creator of a wooden graffiti sign that appeared overnight Monday and reads, "Only good cop is a dead cop."

A photo of the sign, which has since been removed by police, was posted on the Falls Township Police Department Facebook page on Tuesday with a message from police asking the maker to come and have a chat with officers, who want to enlighten him or her on what the police actually do.

“I know whoever did this did it out of ignorance,” the post reads. "I would like to sit down with them and show them what we do as Police Officers so they can base their opinion on facts and not ignorance. I doubt they will do this because they hung the sign in the middle of the night like a true coward that I think they are. But prove me wrong and lets get together maybe we can learn something from each other. I want to stress this is America and anyone is well within their rights to hold such an opinion, but I find it ironic that whoever did this did it on the anniversary of D-Day when thousands of young Americans died to make sure an idiot or idiots like this can express their opinions."
