Car crashes into utility pole in Southwest Philly, kills one

A crash in Southwest Philadelphia killed one person early Sunday morning.

According to reports from 6 ABC and NBC Philadelphia, the crash happened sometime around 3:00 a.m. on Island Avenue between 76th Street and Lindbergh Avenue.

The driver of the car lost control of the vehicle, swerving onto trolley tracks and crashing into a utility pole, taking wires down with it. 

A passenger was killed, while the condition of another passenger and the driver are still unknown. 

The reason for the crash is under investigation.
