Suspect charged in hit-and-run of Philly cop

Police charge driver who struck, dragged officer down road

Police charged Dominique Falls after he allegedly hit and dragged an officer down a Philadelphia street around 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Fox 29 reports

Fallins, 23, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and fleeing police, among related charges.

The incident occurred at 32nd Street and Susquehanna Avenue after Officer Joseph Kochmer and his partner pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation.

According to the CBS Philly report:

After the officers ran the registration, it was determined that the license plate number on the car did not match the car.

When Officer Kochmer approached the car again and asked the driver to exit the car, [Deputy Police Commissioner Richard] Ross said the male attempted to speed away.

Ross said Officer Kochmer pulled out his gun and the suspect tried to take his weapon.

As the driver sped off, he struck and dragged Officer Kochmer, running over his leg, police officials said. The injured officer fired a shot at the motorist as he drove away.

CBS Philly reports that Fallins was arrested at around 2 p.m. at Huntingdon and Napa Streets.

Kochmer is listed in stable condition at Temple University Hospital with a possible broken leg.
