Craft Beer Express rolls into town March 14

Local bars offer an alternative to Erin Express

Events Craft Beer
Kraftwork M. Kennedy/Visit Philadelphia™

Kraftwork in Fishtown.

Rather than hopping on a bus full of trashed Erin Expressers, buy a ticket for the Craft Beer Express, this weekend's alternative bar crawl. A bus will shuttle passengers on March 14 to a dozen bars from Northern Liberties to South Philadelphia in search of craft beer.

Here's how it works: if you buy your ticket online, choose one of the 12 bars as a starting point; you must go to that bar to exchange your ticket for a wristband. If you buy your ticket in person at one of the participating bars, then you can choose any starting point on the day of. Tickets are $10 prior to the event and $15 at the door.

Once you're signed up you can ride the buses from Kraftwork to Sidecar Bar & Grille to Race St. Cafe and back again from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Each bar has its own specials going on for the day.

For instance, Johnny Brenda's hosts its 7th Annual Stout Brunch featuring Irish breakfast foods. The Institute will have representatives from Oregon's Widmer Brothers Brewing on hand to pour 10 different beers and answer questions. Pub on East Passyunk, on the other hand, will serve sour beers all day. Find a full list of participating bars and activities here.
