SEPTA officials have confirmed that a bicyclist was struck and killed by one of the agency's buses Tuesday afternoon in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.
According to a SEPTA spokesperson, the incident occurred around 11:45 a.m. on Orthodox Street near Aramingo Avenue. The cyclist was struck by a Route J bus that was traveling eastbound without passengers at the time.

The operator remained at the scene of the accident and the cyclist was transported to Aria-Frankford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:12 p.m.
Police say the victim, who has not been identified, cut in front of the bus. Other circumstances surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
SEPTA will assist the Philadelphia Police Department's Accident Investigation Division (AID) in their continued investigation of the incident.
