Shortly after 6 p.m. Friday, enhanced radar showed a line of intense storms moving toward the Jersey Shore.

Damaging winds, hail and heavy downpours ripped through areas of South Jersey late Friday afternoon, according to social media reports.

A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for the entire Philadelphia region, including the Jersey Shore, according to the National Weather Service.

Downed trees were reported across South Jersey, including Mount Holly in Burlington County.

The storms interrupted service for a time on the River Line when the tracks were blocked by a downed tree between Florence and Roebling.

One Facebook user posted a short video of a thunderstorm in Yardley, Bucks County.

And yet another caught another tranquil scene between storms in East Brunswick.
