Police bust 42 'deadbeat parents'

The Philadelphia Police Department took 42 moms and dads into custody in their 18th annual "Operation Deadbeat" sweep on Friday.

The parents owe more than $187,000 in child support, NBC Philadelphia reported. The effort is done to discourage parents who do not pay their child support. Police from Bucks, Chester and Delaware, Philadelphia, Bensalem and the Pennsylvania State Police contributed to the sweep.

"It just so happened to be Friday the 13th, which was bad luck for 42 people..." said Philadelphia Sheriff Jewel Williams during a news conference.
