Dom Brown among four players outrighted off Phillies 40-man roster

Finally, probably mercifully, the Domonic Brown era has likely come to an end in Philadelphia. That National League Player of the Month award from May 2013, and all of the potential that made Brown the top prospect in baseball, is a distant memory in the rearview mirror.

In addition to Brown, the Phillies announced that they outrighted outfielders Kelly Dugan and Brian Bogusevic as well as catcher Tommy Joseph off the 40-man roster. They all can become free agents.

Brown is the major story here, but also the most well documented. Dugan, the son of movie director Dennis Dugan, is a former 2009 second-round pick who hit .274 this season between Double-A Reading and Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Joseph, the main piece that came back in 2012 Hunter Pence trade, has dealt with a plethora of concussion issues during his time in the Phillies organization.
