Vigil on Monday for Evesham native, former 'The Voice' contestant Christina Grimmie

A prayer vigil for 22-year-old musician Christina Grimmie – an Evesham Township native and former “The Voice” contestant who was fatally shot following a show in Orlando on Friday – will be held Monday at Marlton Memorial Sports Complex.

According to NJ.com, the vigil will begin at 8:45 p.m.

News reports on the fatal shooting said Grimmie's killer attended the show with the intent to take her life.

In 2014, the Jersey girl finished third during Season 6 of NBC's "The Voice," competing on the team of Maroon 5 star Adam Levine. She went on to fulfill a career singing on the stage.

According to a Facebook post by Grimmie's brother, Marcus, who was reportedly at the show on Friday and witnessed the fatal shooting, Levine has offered to pay for Grimmie's funeral.

On Saturday after hearing news of her death, Evesham Township Mayor Randy Brown tweeted the following:

A GoFundMe campaign set up by Grimmie's music manager, Brian Teefey surpassed its goal of $4,000 having raised more than $165,000 as of Monday afternoon. The money will go to her family, the page notes. There is no word on whether the funds will be redirected given Levine's offer.
