Ex-Sixer Doug Overton pleads guilty in indecent exposure case

Witnesses claim to have seen Overton touching himself in the nether regions along a suburban walking trail

Doug Overton, a former basketball standout at La Salle University who played stints for the Sixers, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges related to allegedly exposing himself on a Philadelphia-area walking trail.

Overton, 47, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to three counts of disorderly conduct and will receive one year of probation, according to a KYW report. He is also set to undergo a psychosexual evaluation.

Overton is the head coach of the men's basketball team at Lincoln University. He starred in high school at Dobbins Tech and as a college player at La Salle before playing 11 years as an NBA guard. He was a Sixer from 1996-98 and 1999.

Overton was charged with one count each of indecent exposure and disorderly conduct after police received numerous calls of a man exposing himself on the Cynwyd Heritage Trail.

One caller told police that the man appeared to be touching himself around his genitals, the Delaware County Daily Times reported. Others told police the man had his penis exposed.

Overton, a 1997 Big 5 Hall of Fame inductee, holds the Explorers' career records for assists and steals.

After his playing career in the NBA, he worked as an assistant coach for Saint Joseph's University and the Brooklyn Nets. He also spent two seasons as a Sixers analyst on CSN Philly before taking the Lincoln University job.
