Holiday toy drive honors South Jersey boy who died in accident

4-year-old was accidentally run over by his father’s truck, according to police

The family of 4-year-old South Jersey boy Thomas Blaine Kinzer III, who died in an accident in mid-October, has started an annual "Toys from Thomas" holiday toy drive in the child's memory, Shore News Today reports.

According to police, the boy's father, Thomas Kinzer, 35, was using a 2015 Dodge Ram Pickup to pull a trailer from the rear of the property while his son was in the front yard driving a small motorized toy tractor.

The child unknowingly drove into the path of the truck and was run over, police said. He was transported to Cooper Regional Trauma Center by helicopter and later died of his injuries.

Donation bins for new, unwrapped toys have been placed at several locations in the vicinity of the family's Egg Harbor Township home.  Toys can be donated through Saturday, Dec. 19.
