Brought to you by Brookladelphia and Female Frequency, Wednesday night’s Fiona Fest promises new insights into the work of beloved but somehow still criminally underrated singer-songwriter Fiona Apple. Subtitled “A tribute to Fiona Apple in honor of the 20th anniversary of ‘Tidal,’” the evening promises thoughtful covers of songs from the 1996 album by an impressive lineup of performers, including Chelsea Mitchell, Ellen Siberian-Tiger, Desiree Sky, Gretchen Lohse and more.
"Tidal," you may recall, was a juggernaut in its day, introducing the world to Apple via "Criminal" and other memorable hits. Host/performer Dani Mari recently released this track — recorded with Ali McGuire, Noelle Picara and Desiree Sky — and it’s just the right mix of dark, delicate and fierce:
