Police: Florida woman arrested after streaming live video of drunken driving

A Florida woman was arrested Saturday after using the social media app Periscope to broadcast herself while driving under the influence, according to the Lakeland Police Department.

Police said users on the live video streaming platform began to call 911 to report a possible drunk driver after they heard the female driver say several times that she was drunk, had a flat tire and didn't know where she was.

Viewers also messaged the driver asking her to stop driving before she hurt or killed someone or herself, authorities said.

Officers were able to locate the driver, identified as 23-year-old Whitney Beall, by using the Periscope app, the police department said.

According to Lakeland police, Beall failed a field sobriety test and refused a Breathalyzer test. She was arrested and charged with driving under the influence.
