Through the month of February, the National Museum of American Jewish History is offering free admission.

"Free February" will offer visitors complimentary access to the museum’s core exhibition highlighting more than 360 years of Jewish life in America.

Starting Feb. 13, a rare 1790 letter from George Washington to the Hebrew Congregation in Newport, Rhode Island, will be on display. The nation’s first president proclaims “to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance” in the letter.

“In once again making the month of February free to all, we celebrate the right to religious freedom while making this historic, rarely displayed letter accessible to a wider audience,” Ivy Barsky, CEO and Gwen Goodman director of NMAJH, stated in a press release.

As in prior years, the museum will also be open on Presidents Day, which is Feb. 20.

Visitors will be treated to greetings from an actor portraying Washington from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., interactive tours highlighting the theme of religious freedom and various family-friendly activities, including the opportunity to write letters about freedom with a quill pen.
