Temporary generators at Revel must be replaced, state says

Florida developer Glen Straub's welcome to Atlantic City continues to go awry, as the state of New Jersey will require him to use different generators to power the dormant Revel Casino.

When the casino's sole utility provider, ACR Energy, cut off service to the facility last week, Straub said that he would bring in generators to fill in the gap and avoid city-imposed fines of $5,000 per day due to fire safety hazards.

According to the Courier-Post, the three portable generator trucks Straub sent to the site on Tuesday have been nixed by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection on grounds that they would probably violate the pollution standards of the federal Clean Air Act.

Straub was told that smaller, newer generators would meet the standards.
