Is Giancarlo Stanton trying to talk his way off the Marlins?

This isn't going to help squash those Giancarlo Stanton-to-the-Phillies rumors that seem to keep popping up every couple of days.

Following his team's 10-3 loss at the hands of the last-place Phillies – a defeat that capped off a Marlins' series loss – Stanton voiced some displeasure in the way his team is playing.

Of course, seeing his named involved in all those trade rumors – not to mention the uncertain future of the franchise, which is still up for sale – isn't going to help his frustrations, but he seems to be channeling them in the proper way on the field. In the three-game series, the 27-year-old outfielder belted four home runs.

Unfortunately, that wasn't enough for the Marlins, who fell to 42-51, 14.5 games behind the Nationals in the NL East.

It's beginning to look more like a foregone conclusion that they'll fall short of the postseason, especially if they are the deadline sellers many expect them to be.

Well, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. Right?
