Learn about Latin Boogaloo music at the Prince Theater

There will be a film screening, Q&A session, live concert

WXPN is partnering with the Philadelphia Film Society and AfroTaino Productions to give Philly a taste of Latin Boogaloo music.

The Prince Theater will screen the award-winning documentary "We Like It Like That" on March 25. The film features original interviews, recordings and archival footage of artists who created and popularized the genre of music in 1960s New York City.

After the film, there will be a Q&A session with the film's director Mathew Ramirez Warren. Felix Contreras, the co-host of NPR Music's Alt.Latino program joins him.

The night doesn't end there, however, there will be a live performance to end the evening event.

“King of Latin Soul” Joe Bataan, who is prominently featured in the film, will perform Boogaloo music for the crowd.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the free 8 p.m. event. Registration is required for attendance.
