Man struck, killed by dump truck after SUV breaks down in Bucks County

A man was struck and killed by a passing dump truck on a busy Bucks County highway Friday morning after he stepped out into traffic from his broken down SUV, 6abc reports.

The incident happened before 11:00 a.m. in Upper Southampton on Street Road near Gravel Hill Road.

The man was hit when he stepped out from behind his disabled vehicle, according to 6abc. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Images from Chopper 6 HD showed a long skid mark and a large dump truck stopped in the middle of the road.
An SUV with its hood up and emergency lights flashing was parked a short distance away on the right shoulder of the 2-lane divided highway.

The driver of the dump truck was cooperating with investigators, police said. Authorities deemed the incident a tragedy.

Street Road was expected to be closed near the scene for hours.
