March against gun violence set for Tuesday in Camden

Victims and community leaders will participate in march

Officials from Camden are holding an anti-gun violence rally Tuesday.

It begins at the Bonsall Elementary School at 1575 Mt. Ephraim Ave. at 11 a.m. and ends in Whitman Square Park at Everett and Louis streets.

Officials and gun violence victims will participate.

The city has a long history of gun violence, though it has had just two deadly shootings since mid-December, according to spokesman Dan Keashen. But 29 people have been shot this year, he added.

“Camden has had and continues to suffer at the hands of this public health crisis," Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli said in a statement. "Guns continue to be the contributing factor to most countywide homicides and trauma suffered throughout our county. This is the time for us to work together to break the cycle and stop the violence.”
