Actor Miles Teller arrested for public intoxication

Philly-area native reportedly had trouble standing up, was uncooperative with police

Chester County-native and actor Miles Teller was arrested this past weekend for being drunk in public, according to multiple reports.

According to TMZ, the 30-year-old "Whiplash" star from Downingtown was partying in San Diego early Sunday morning when police noticed he was having trouble standing up.

Officers approached him and he almost fell into traffic, so they handcuffed him and offered to take him to a detox program offered by the city that allows drunk people to sleep it off for four hours.

Teller was uncooperative, however, a police spokesperson told People:

“He was taken to the detox center where he was uncooperative and the staff rejected him. He was then arrested and transported to the local jail where he was booked,” Billy Hernandez, a spokesperson for the San Diego Police Department, confirmed to PEOPLE.

Teller was charged with public intoxication and later released, the magazine reports.

A representative for Teller didn't respond to TMZ or People's requests for comment.
