Officials in Montgomery County announced the arrest of a 23-year-old Norristown woman who allegedly stabbed her stepfather to death in the borough's first homicide of 2016.
According to prosecutors, Shakira Hayward fatally stabbed her stepfather, Kenneth Bullock, at his residence on E. Marshall St. early Thursday morning.
Norristown Police and Montgomery County Detectives say the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation inside the home. After receiving a report of a stabbing, police responded to Suburban Community Hospital at 7:12 a.m. and found Bullock, 37, receiving treatment for multiple stab wounds to his hand and leg. The victim was pronounced dead at 8:55 a.m.
Hayward was arraigned and remanded to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility without bail. She is charged with third-degree murder, voluntary manslaughter and related charges.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 23 at 10 a.m.
