The Philadelphia Museum of Art is hosting a medical theme night on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Guests will look at art in a new light once local medical students diagnose paintings and prescribe treatments during a medical malady tour. Play doctor along the tours starting at 6 p.m. and running every half hour until 7:30 p.m.

Plan to schedule tours around a theatrical show at 6:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., however. Theater artists Aaron Cromie and Mary Tuomanen use two of Thomas Eakin's paintings, "The Gross Clinic" and "The Agnew Clinic," for a darkly humorous show.

Nineteenth-century surgical instruments from the Mütter Museum of The College of Physicians of Philadelphia will also be at the event, showing what operations used to involve.

On Wednesday nights at the Museum guests can pay what they wish for admission after 5 p.m.
