Mütter is getting in the holiday spirit with new event

Includes a tree-lighting celebration

Holiday Mutter Museum

A holiday wreath hangs on a door in Philadelphia.

The Mütter Museum, with its collection of skulls, odd things in jars and medical instruments, probably isn't a place that comes to mind when thinking "festive" or "merry."

This year, that changes. The museum of medial oddities is hosting a holiday event on Sunday, Dec. 10.

All ages are invited to decorate cookies and make ornaments before a tree-lighting celebration in the Benjamin Rush Medicinal Garden at 6:10 p.m. To ward off the winter chill, there will be warm drinks for purchase.

The event is free to attend but bringing an unwrapped gift to be donated to local children's hospitals is encouraged.
