Dr. Raja Jagatiani, 54, of Dumont, New Jersey, faces five counts of criminal sexual conduct, three counts of harassment by offensive touching and one count of simple assault.
A New Jersey doctor is facing multiple charges after an investigation of claims made by several employees and a patient that he bit and touched them inappropriately.
The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday that Dr. Raja K. Jagatiani, 54, of Dumont, has been arrested and charged with Criminal Sexual Contact, Simple Assault and Harassment by Offensive Touching in connection to an incident on July 25, which prompted further investigation.
An female employee of Dr. Jagatiani alleged that the doctor touched her breast and bit her cheek while she was working with him on that date, leading investigators to identify and interview at least four other victims who allege similar harassment, according to prosecutors.
An online profile at Vitals.com notes that Jagatiani, who specializes in internal medicine, received a Patients' Choice award (2012), Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2012), and On-Time Doctor award (2014). He has six hospital affiliations in New Jersey and graduated from Seth G. Medical College in 1984.
Jagatiani was remanded to Bergen County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
