A natural gas explosion, the second in the past week, was reported in Ocean County on Monday.

The explosion occurred at a Point Pleasant Beach home early Monday when a homeowner reportedly awoke to natural gas odor and saw flames, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office told The Press of Atlantic City.

The fire was extinguished and an investigation into the cause of the explosion is ongoing.

This is the second natural gas explosion to rock Ocean County in the past week, both involving New Jersey Natural Gas customers.

Last week's incident involved a home on Oak Avenue in Stafford Township that exploded after a gas main leak from the street flowed into a home.
