N.J. substitute teacher arrested, accused of fondling 10-year-old girl

Authorities allege two other students were witnesses, NBC10 reports.

A New Jersey substitute teacher has been arrested and accused of fondling a 10-year-old female student, NBC10 reports. 

The alleged incident is said to have taken place at William B. Cruise Memorial School No. 11 in Passaic County. According to NBC10, the suspect, 58-year-old Pedro Rodriguez, was arrested on Tuesday, and his bail was set at $100,000.

Rodriguez, who was working as a substitute teacher at the time of the alleged abuse, has been charged with sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years behind bars.

Authorities allege two other students were witnesses, NBC10 reports.

Rodriguez was scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday. An update on his court appearance is not available at this time.
