Off-duty officer rescued from vehicle after crash in Chestnut Hill

An off-duty police officer was rescued from his vehicle early Tuesday morning after he crashed his SUV in Chestnut Hill, NBC10 reports.

The crash happened around midnight along the 9500 block of Germantown Ave.

After losing control of his SUV, the off-duty officer crashed into a fence and then a pine tree. The vehicle flipped on its side, and the 35-year-old was trapped inside.

Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to free him.

The off-duty officer was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.

The crash remains under investigation.
