Each year Oyster House throws a shucking competition.

Last year, Oyster House expanded its annual oyster shucking competition into a festival. This year, the restaurant will do the same. Shuck Fest will take place on Sunday, April 23, from noon to 4 p.m.

The shucking competition will begin at 2 p.m. with professional shuckers competing for a $200 cash prize.

Afterward, amateur shuckers can compete for a $100 Oyster House gift card. The crowd will be treated to the oysters after each heat.

Not sure how to shuck an oyster? Earlier in the day, there will be tutorials for attendees to learn from Oyster House pros.

The event also includes "meet-greet-and-eats" with local oyster growers, who will give out complimentary oysters.

Besides oysters, New England clam chowder, popcorn shrimp, crispy fried oyster sliders and house-made cookies will be for sale.

To drink, there will be beer from Narragansett, wine from The Wine Merchant and cocktails made with Avión Tequila, Philadelphia Distilling’s Bluecoat American Dry Gin and The Bay Vodka.

Just remember to bring cash for food & drink; cards won't be accepted.

Tickets for the event are $15 per person (includes a beer for the 21-plus crowd). Children younger than 12 can attend for free.

For the kids, there will be a craft table set up for painting and jewelry making.
