Pa. Superior Court upholds life sentences for inmate accused of raping prison clerk

A Pennsylvania inmate accused of raping a female prison clerk will face three life sentences, state Superior Court affirmed.

According to CBS Philadelphia, a central Pennsylvania judge originally ruled on three life sentences, which was upheld by the state Supreme Court.

CBS Philly reports the accused, 38-year-old Omar Best, of Philadelphia, allegedly pretended for days to be on a work detail so he could target the victim before cornering and choking her to the point of unconsciousness. He then raped her in an office.

The incident took place at the State Correctional Institution in Rockview.

According to CBS Philly, Best was convicted of rape in 2012. He has been transferred to the state prison in Huntingdon.
