Pack of barking dogs leads police to heroin bust in South Jersey

Man arrested after discovery of heroin, crack cocaine and other drug paraphernalia

A disturbance call in South Jersey's Manchester Township steered police directly to a drug bust with the help of multiple dogs barking loudly and aggravating neighbors on Thursday afternoon.

According to NBC 10, Manchester Township Police found 117 bags of heroin, pieces of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia inside a home on Housen Street in Manchester's Summit Park section after encountering a pack of dogs acting aggressively at the property.

At the scene, police questioned 22-year-old Bowen Stephenson, who they found hiding in one of the home's bedrooms. After spotting a syringe and multiple doses of heroin, police determined that Stephenson provided false information to avoid an arrest. A more extensive search of the home turned up the larger stash of drugs.

Police arrested Stephenson on multiple drug charges and sent him to Ocean County jail, where he remains in lieu of $20,000 bail.
