Pedestrian struck, killed by Amtrak train in Delaware County

Commuters should expect delays

A person was struck and killed by an Amtrak train near SEPTA’s Ridley Park Regional Rail Station along E Hinckley Avenue at around 11 a.m. Friday, 6ABC.com reports.

Trains are being permitted to go past the scene as an investigation is underway, but commuters should expect delays.

The train that hit the victim reportedly had 359 passengers and crew members on board, but no one on the train was hurt.

The train, which was traveling from Wilmington to Philadelphia when the incident occurred, temporarily lost power due to the impact, 6ABC.com adds.

The victim’s identity has not be released nor has there been any information why he or she was on the tracks.
