The University of Pennsylvania is ranked among the top 50 schools and universities in the United States for animation programs, according to a recent list by Animation Career Review.

Schools were evaluated on criteria such as academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth of the program and faculty and geographic location.

Penn came in at No. 15 on the list, which is in the top 10 percent of all schools considered.

Students interested in animation at Penn can choose from several programs in The School of Engineering and Applied Science. Options include a bachelor's degree in engineering and science (BSE) with a digital media design major, a digital media design minor and a Ph.D. in human modeling and simulation.

Philadelphia's University of the Arts also made the list, placing in the top 20 percent of all schools considered at No. 42. Topping off the list was the California Institute of the Arts.
