Philly police recover female body from Delaware River

Police were not initially certain whether foul play was involved in the woman's death

Penn's Landing is located in Center City alongside the Delaware River.

The Philadelphia Police Marine Unit recovered a female body discovered in the Delaware River near Penn's Landing Friday night, according to multiple media reports.

The woman is believed to be between 20 and 40 years old, NBC10 reported. It was not initially clear whether foul play was involved.

The body was reported at 6:57 p.m. after being found in the river near Christopher Columbus Boulevard and the Market Street ramp, according to CBSPhilly.

The woman was pronounced dead at 7:01 p.m. after being transported to the Marine headquarters on Washington Avenue, 6ABC reported.
