In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Center City-based tailor and special occasions clothing purveyor Henry A. Davidson is hosting a suit drive for low-income, unemployed Philadelphians.
Some people throw a cocktail party, bake a cake or craft a new logo to celebrate milestone business anniversaries.
Henry A. Davidsen founder and owner Brian Lipstein opted for a suit drive.
For the 10th anniversary of the 1701 Spruce St. tailor, which offers by-appointment-only special occasions clothing, Lipstein is asking Philadelphians to donate 1,000 men's suits, ties, shirts, shoes, jackets, belts and pants by April 21 in support of Philadelphia's unemployed. Donations will go directly to MenzFit Philadelphia and Career Wardrobes, both of which are Philadelphia-based nonprofits that provide a professional wardrobe to unemployed, low-income men -- everyone from laid-off workers to recovering substance abusers to veterans.
Following the eight-week drive will be a trunk show that runs April 19-21 at a yet-to-be-determined location. Additionally, those who donate are eligible for 15 percent off a suit purchase at Henry A. Davidsen. Use of the hashtag #HDSuitDrive is also being encouraged upon donation.
