Police arrest Angelo Maldonado for allegedly killing Thomas Ewing

Angelo Maldonado was charged with murder Tuesday for allegedly killing 21-year-old Thomas Ewing, of Northeast Philadelphia.

Philadelphia police arrested a North Philadelphia man suspected of killing a Northeast Philadelphia man early Saturday morning.

Angelo Maldonado, 39, of the 3900 block of Claridge Street, was charged Tuesday for allegedly murdering Thomas Ewing, a 21-year-old from the 7600 block of Hartel Avenue.

Police said they found Ewing suffering from multiple stab wounds to the chest and torso after they responded to a call for a "person with a weapon" at the 7300 block of Revere Street in Northeast Philly at 2:54 a.m. Saturday. Ewing was transported to Aria-Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:28 a.m.

Maldonado faces charges of murder and possessing an instrument of crime. He was denied bail.
