Police investigating sexual assault of teen at Made in America

Police are investigating after a teenager was allegedly sexually assaulted during the Made In America Festival, according to media reports.

The incident occurred Sunday night around 9 p.m. near the intersection of 24th Street and the Ben Franklin Parkway, CBS3 reports.

Authorities said a 16-year-old girl was approached from behind by an unknown male subject, who pulled down her jean shorts before sexually assaulting her.

The victim screamed to alert nearby people and scared away the perpetrator.

Medical personnel transported the victim to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia for treatment.

According to 6ABC, officers responded to the hospital's emergency room around 11:30 p.m. and started an investigation.

The Special Victims Unit will handle the investigation.

This year's event was the fifth annual festival and took place on Saturday and Sunday.
