Police: Man steals TransPass, pulls knife on victim

Incident occurred in early evening in North Philly

A man pulled a knife on someone after stealing their transit pass in North Philly earlier this week, according to police.

Authorities say the incident occurred on Dec. 2 around 6:08 p.m. near the 500 block of West Cumberland Street.

The suspect came up to the person and grabbed the pass, hanging on a string around the complainant's neck.

When the person tried fighting back, the suspect pulled the blade and said "come on, come on," police say.

The suspect was last seen running down 5th Street. He is described as black, approximately 50-years-old with a stocky build and was wearing a dark brown or black waist-length jacket, blue Dickie pants and a hat.

Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Sergeant John Massi of the 26th Police District at 215-686-3260/61.
