A South Jersey police department is using humor in a report about a suspect who they allege almost got away with theft – almost.

According to a Facebook post from the Absecon Police Department, K-9 officer Dozer, of the Pleasantville Police Department, turned the incident into a game of hide-and-seek that ended with a clear winner. Hint: It wasn’t the human.

As the Absecon police put it, the suspect, identified as Erik along with a headshot, was allegedly caught in the midst of breaking into a vehicle and taking possessions that didn’t belong to him.

When police attempted to approach him, he reportedly ran. So, they called in Dozer.

“Bad Erik, bad,” the police post says. “Good boy Dozer, good boy.”

To make a long story short, Dozer promptly located Erik, who police allege was in possession of stolen items, including some from the aforementioned vehicle and some of unknown origin.

The post adds, “If you awoke this morning to find your vehicle burglarized please come to our police department to file a report and we'll look through the recovered items for your stuff.”

Erik was charged with burglary and theft. Dozer got a bone.
