Philly police: Suspect in custody in paintball shooting spree

Five people hurt in Roxborough, Germantown in early March

Philadelphia police have announced that they have a person in custody in connection with a paintball shooting spree that injured five people in the city’s Roxborough and Germantown sections earlier this month.

According to a statement from police, 21-year-old Kadene Bryant, of East Germantown, was taken into custody on Thursday and faces charges that include aggravated assault; possession of an instrument of crime, in this case, a paintball gun; endangering another person and more.

Police had originally asked the public for help locating two suspects, but there was no word on a second suspect on Thursday.

According to the original report, on March 7, two unknown males drove around the city in a white minivan shooting and injuring five unsuspecting people, sending at least two to the hospital for injuries that were considered life-threatening.

One of the victims required several stitches near the eye, police said.

The first victim was struck around 8:40 p.m. on March 7 on the 6600 block of Ridge Avenue in Roxborough and the last at around 1:35 a.m. on March 8 in the area of 8100 Ridge Ave.

At the time, police had described both suspects as black males between 15 and 20 years old, with the passenger wearing a black hat and black hoodie.
