Police: Two women struck by lightning on South Jersey beach

Two women needed to be hospitalized after being struck by lightning in separate incidents in Ocean County, New Jersey.

The Point Pleasant Beach Police Department said that both incidents happened within a 10-minute span on Saturday afternoon.

The first incident occurred around 2:53 p.m. on the beach at New Jersey Avenue.

A 63-year-old woman was conscious as she was transported to a local hospital.

Approximately eight minutes later, a 54-year-old woman was injured in her vehicle on Ocean Avenue by a lightning strike. She was also conscious as she was taken to a local hospital.

Additional details have not been disclosed.
