Authorities in Delaware County are investigating after a woman was found dead Wednesday afternoon inside a bathtub at her apartment in Secane.
Police say the 36-year-old African-American victim was found apparently beaten and strangled around 4:45 p.m. at the New Orleans Park apartment complex on the 900 block of South Avenue, according to 6 ABC.
Officials became aware of a potential problem after co-workers and friends at a Chester-based packaging company noticed the victim, who has not been identified, failed to show up for work. Some of them went to her apartment and knocked on the door, but there was no answer. They were later granted access, found the victim's body and notified police of the discovery.
Investigators said the shower was running when the body was found and the apartment showed signs of a struggle.
Police continue to investigate the incident.
