Port Richmond police chase ends in crash, passenger ejected

Suspect fled after spotting State Police cruiser

A passenger who was ejected from a vehicle Tuesday when it crashed in Port Richmond was transported to Temple University Hospital after Pennsylvania State Police pursued the speeding driver.

According to NBC 10, state troopers said the car accelerate and ran two stops signs at around 12:30 p.m. after their cruiser was spotted at East Allegheny Avenue and Tulip Street.

When the troopers made a U-turn and turned on their sirens to pursue the vehicle, they lost track of it momentarily before turning a bend and finding that the car had crashed. The passenger in the vehicle had been ejected, the troopers said.

The driver was taken into custody -- though it is not clear why the driver decided to flee the scene. There is no word on the condition of the passenger at this time.
