Recycle your old car seat at Target and get a discount

The trade-in program is available for a limited time

Target is offering a trade-in deal on all old car seats in exchange for a discount on a new one.

In other words, you can trade in the infant car seat your child is growing out of in exchange for a discount on a brand-new convertible car seat for an older child.

The deal is being held in accordance with Earth Day, which is April 22, in partnership with New Jersey-based recycling business TerraCycle, since car seats are clogging up landfills.

You can hand over your old car seat between Monday, April 17, and Sunday, April 30, and you will get 20 percent off an in-store or online purchase of another car seat at Target through May 31. The seat you're trading in doesn't have to have been purchased at Target.

To make the trade, just bring the old seat with you to a Target store location.
