A Montgomery County pediatrician who was arrested late last month on child pornography charges was found dead at the county prison on Sunday, officials announced.
Authorities said Dr. David Kennedy, 48, died under cicumstances that remain under investigation, NBC10 reports. The Montgomery County Coroner's Office completed an autopsy Monday morning, but no further details were provided.
Kennedy, a resident of Pennsburg, was arrested Nov. 30 and charged with five counts of sexual abuse of children and criminal use of a communications facility.
Prosecutors said a nurse at Personal Care Pediatrics, where Kennedy was a physician, alerted authorities after she allegedly discovered sexually graphic photos on a company-owned cell phone. The nurse had been entrusted with the phone to handle the practice's after-hour calls during Thanksgiving weekend.
Kennedy had been at Montgomery County Correctional Faciluty in the weeks since he was arraigned and failed to post $250,000 bail.
