Kevin Allred, an adjunct professor at Rutgers University who underwent psychiatric evaluation after posting a series of threatening tweets, has been removed from the university, NJ.com reported Friday.

Allred, who taught pop culture and politics, tweeted a series of controversial viewpoints on the Second Amendment where he was also accused of threatening to kill white people, following Donald Trump's presidential victory.

Allred told the newspaper that he passed the psychiatric exam and taught classes Wednesday.

"We will not comment on the specifics of an individual personnel matter," Rutgers spokesperson E.J. Miranda told NJ.com. "As a general rule, however, when the university is presented with allegations of threats to public safety, we take those allegations very seriously and have an obligation to investigate. Mr. Allred has been placed on administrative leave and will therefore not be teaching."

A spokesperson for the university did not immediately return a request for comment to PhillyVoice Friday evening.

On Twitter, Allred said that he "received some of the most most supportive messages" following the events that unfolded earlier in the week.

He also said he's been drawing inspiration from music, including Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up" and Beyoncé's "Sorry."

Allred taught the popular course, "Politicizing Beyoncé."
