Two police officers were taken to the hospital and a witness had his car stolen after a hit-and-run in Spring Garden early Wednesday morning, according to reports.

Police said the series of events occurred around 2 a.m. at the intersection of Broad and Brown streets when a car slammed into the officers' unmarked pickup truck, 6ABC reports.

The driver fled, and the officers were taken to the hospital, where they are expected to be OK, but while all this was going on, a man driving a white Ford near the scene hopped out of his moving car, telling police he did so because he was scared.

Two men jumped into the running vehicle, police told NBC10, speeding south on Broad Street, turning the wrong way on 15th Street and slamming into another moving vehicle.

Those men then fled in an unknown direction. No one in the second car that was struck reported being injured.

Police are still searching for the suspects in both incidents.
