Dan Cataline proposed to his girlfriend at Rittenhouse Square on Friday.

When Dan Cataline decided to propose to his girlfriend, he knew Rittenhouse Square's long brick sidewalk with glowing lanterns hanging from bare tree branches was the perfect spot.

Cataline proposed to his girlfriend of almost two years, Kristin Marinelli, on Friday, NBC Philadelphia reported.

“As soon as I saw Kristin, I felt proud. At that moment, I knew that I had the girl of my dreams approach me at the most beautiful time,” Cataline said.

Cataline recruited both his and her families to hold gold lettered balloons reading "will you marry me?" The group let the balloons go and drank champaign in celebration.

Marinelli said she didn't expect a thing.

“I thought I was going to cry my eyes out, I was in so much shock,” Marinelli said. “It was so beautiful, and I couldn’t ask for anything more."
